---------------------

Appearance:

As an adult, Rin doesn't look much different from her anime counterpart, albeit slightly older and more mature. She still retains similar facial features to the other three 'bracelet girls'; Yuzu, Ruri and Serena.
She is also, more than likely, exactly the same height as them too.

Rin is a rather pretty young woman with short wavy green hair which constantly looks like it was gracefully windswept. She has orange/brown eyes and wears a small stud earring at the bottom of each of her ears.

She can often be found wearing more practical clothing for the job she does, such as riding suits, overalls, jeans or dungarees and some of these may often have patches to fix holes.
Her clothing does tend to have some degree of pink on them, as it's her favourite colour.

---------------------

Personality:

Rin is an incredibly bright and driven individual, who is very hard-working and organised. Since she grew up in a working class family with two aging grandparents, she understood from a young age the value of hard-work, as well as earning her own money to pay her own way. She's had various part time jobs since middle school so she was able to help her grandparents out, as well as support herself the best she could, including raising money to help with high school and college fees.

Due to growing up with not a huge lot of money, Rin tends to be rather serious and sensible with spending habits. She prefers to buy things that are practical and that she will get good use out of. She will very rarely, if ever, spend money on herself, unless it's for something useful. She tends to wear clothes until they're worn out and will only buy new clothes as and when needed. Any non-practical items she owns (like figurines, plushies ect.) have been gifts from friends, which she treasures.
Her ability to think practically also makes her come off as slightly tomboyish, as she only tends to wear clothes that are easy to move around or work in such as overalls, riding suits, jeans, or dungarees. She never really wears dresses, mainly because she never wants to commit to buying something she would rarely wear and you can't fix a D-Wheel in a dress (Well, you could, but again... not practical and she doesn't want to give any guys a show!).
She does sometimes wish she could have the chance to be a little more girly from time to time though.

She has a rather nurturing side to her, which makes her come off almost like a big sister or a mother that you can talk to. This is very true especially around Yugo, who she cares a lot for. She always finds time for him if he needs her and is always willing to sit and listen to him or be his shoulder to cry on if he needs it. She's very physically comfortable with him and trusts him completely. She also knows he does have some... rather unhealthy coping habits, so she does her best to give him outlets or distractions (as well as food when he forgets to eat!)
That said she also is not beyond scolding Yugo (and others) from time to time if she feels they've done something wrong or out of place. She also has a comical violent streak if you REALLY piss her off.
Good luck if you incur that wrath in her.

She is also fairly outspoken on issues that are important to her. She believes in gender equality and quashing the discrimination that come with gender roles, as being a female engineer she's more than once had to deal with sexist remarks, especially when she first began her engineering course. If anyone tries to mansplain computers and engineering to her, she usually finds ways to completely humiliate them and make them look dumb. The guys on her course very quickly learned not to mess with her.
She also has a somewhat sour perception of people who have lots of money, mainly those who brag about or 'flaunt' their money by buying big expensive things like fancy cars and planes, as if they're waving that wealth in other peoples faces, and they do nothing to use their money to help those who really need it. She tries to avoid buying from large companies where she can and prefers to support smaller business owners.
Thankfully, although Yugo's family are quite well-off, she finds the Sakakis are fairly humble and don't really flaunt their wealth. She also knows Yoko does volunteer work for the Maiami City Animal Shelter since Yugo sometimes accompanies her and she has gone with him a few times to help out.

In short she's caring, determined, hard-working, practical, curious and level-headed/down-to earth person who carries some big sister energy. She's also very money conscious and at times can be fairly outspoken too. She's definitely someone who isn't afraid of speaking her mind.

History:

In the current reality, Rin is... well, still an orphan.
When she was only a year old, her parents were involved in a car accident which sadly claimed their lives. Rin was also in the car at the time, strapped to a baby seat in the back of the car, but by some miracle, she was left completely unscathed by the accident.
After this, custody of Rin went to her paternal grandparents and she grew up with them in a small apartment in Maiami City.
Because she was so young at the time, she doesn't really remember her parents or what they were like and she only knows what they look like as her grandparents kept some framed photos of them in the apartment. Although she feels confused on her feelings over their deaths (she feels sad about it, but it feels like she's mourning people she didn't really know), she also feels the best way to honour their memory is to live her life to the fullest.

Growing up with her working class grandparents, Rin learned the value of hard work and saving money from an early age. They weren't a family that lived in poverty, but money was often fairly tight for Rin's grandparents and they would often live paycheck to paycheck.
Rin's grandmother, who worked in a grocery store, would spend time teaching Rin the basics of what a girl 'should' know, like cooking and sewing. Although she learned how to do these basic tasks, they found that she was much more interested in what her grandfather did for a living, which was a mechanic. She would often hang around the small workshop he worked for, ask what he was doing, what parts were used for what... he mainly humoured her for a while, figuring it was just a phase and she'd soon lose interest, but the more she hung around, the more he realised she was retaining all the information he had told her. She could recognise parts and remember what they did.
She then started to take things apart to learn how they worked, which... wasn't always a welcome thing when she started taking random things in the apartment apart. To satisfy her curiosity, her grandfather would instead sometimes find and bring her home some old junk to take apart.

She started school around age 6 and this is where she met the boy who would become her best friend, Yugo. She helped him out with something one day at school and just kept helping him. Before they knew it, they were inseparable.
Rin shared her love of mechanics with Yugo and Rin's grandfather suddenly had two curious children hanging around.
Likewise, Yugo shared his love of dueling with her, so they spent a lot of time also doing that together.

When they were around 10-11 years old, the WRGP happened.
And they LOVED IT.
The motorbikes, the speed, the card games. It was everything they loved rolled into one! They were hugely inspired by that, as well as by Team 5D's (Their favourite team in the tournament) and it was decided... they wanted to do riding duels one day too! I'm sure they totally strapped their duel disks onto their peddle bikes and rode around like they were doing riding duels.
Their love for riding duels evolved as they got older into a goal: They wanted to build their own D-Wheel.
It seemed ambitious, maybe a bit too ambitious, but Rin's grandfather felt it was worth letting them give it a shot. Maybe with Rin's smarts and Yugo's determination, they could actually do it. He let them have an area in the workshop/garage he worked in and gave them help where he could. Rin would take Duel Disks apart to understand how they worked and how it could be applied to a D-Wheel, she looked up blueprints online where she could find them, read up about momentum systems...
It was very challenging, and there were more than enough set backs for them (like the engine catching on fire or comical explosions), but by the end of middle school, they'd done it.
They'd built a working D-Wheel. This became the D-Wheel that Yugo now uses (granted it's probably been improved and modified a lot over the following years.)

During all this, Rin had noticed that her grandfather had been struggling more with his work, eventually leading to him finding out he was developing arthritis. In order to help her aging grandparents out, as well as earn money for herself, she started taking odd jobs around Maiami City during middle school. Sometimes she'd fix things for neighbours or do other odd jobs and sometimes she'd do part-time jobs (though she occasionally has to lie about her age to get them) like shop work. This was both to help fund the D-Wheel, as well as help with the funds for high school in the hopes that her grandparents didn't have to sacrifice too much for her and to gain some slight financial independence of her own.

Eventually, Yugo went off to Duel Academy along with two of his brothers. Rin really wanted to go too, not just because dueling was a dream of hers, but also to stay with Yugo, but sadly the tuition for it was just too much for her and her grandparents, so she had to opt to doing High School in Maiami City.
This was the longest time the two of them had spent apart since they were children. Rin missed constantly seeing Yugo's dumb face so much during this time, but they kept in regular contact. Rin carried on doing part-time jobs in her spare time after school, helping out in the grocery store her grandmother worked at, waitressing, cleaning, fixing things, all kinds of things in order to help fund the rest of high school and save money for college.
Her grandfather knew a little about business and accounting, so during this time, he taught her the basics of it. She also spent the weekends during her high school years building her own D-Wheel (Yugo helped her out whenever he was home for holidays) which is now the D-Wheel she uses.

It was a LONG three years, but eventually they both graduated their respective schools and were able to spend more consistent time together again, with Yugo also concentrating on the Super Junior League while she began taking college courses in computers/tech and engineering.

Then the memories of their 'previous lives' returned.

It was really confusing. She suddenly had these memories of another life she lived. One where she and Yugo grew up in an orphanage in the slums of Neo Domino City. She remembered their dreams of wanting a better life, to make it big in riding duels and building a D-Wheel together like they had done in their current lives and not only were they inspired by Team 5D's in this life, they were taken under their wing!

But the the massive inequality between the rich (The Tops) and poor (The Commons) began getting much worse under a man named Roget which effectively began cutting her and Yugo off from the Team 5D's garage. The continuing changes within the city caused members of Team 5D's to either go missing or go their separate ways.

Rin remembered being pursued through the slums and forced into a duel my a mysterious man who had a similar face to Yugo. Despite putting up a good fight, she ultimately lost the duel and she was taken by him.
This was Yuri, who was now one of Yugo's brothers. She'd always felt uneasy around Yuri whenever she was at the Sakaki household... maybe this was the reason why.

She remembered being taken to Academia, located in a completely different world to her own. A prisoner of The Professor who always looked at her with way too much familiarity, despite not having a clue who he was.
Academia is where Rin met Ruri, another girl who looked a lot like her, and together the two attempted to escape their prison, more than once.
During this time, Rin and Ruri grew a close friendship and after their memories had returned, Ruri was the one who reached out to Rin to discuss these memories. Ever since then, Rin and Ruri have maintained a close friendship. Rin also has a fairly close friendship with Yuzu too.

She also remembered becoming some sort of giant goddess or something with them and Serena to fight some giant monster demon that was made up of the Sakaki brothers??
She tries not to think too much on that.

But then there was Yugo.
Rin could read him like a book and she could tell he was trying to avoid thinking about these memories. When Yuri went missing, he focused on finding him as much as he could and after that, he'd focus a lot on working on his D-Wheel.

In order to help give him something to focus on as a distraction, as well as an outlet, Rin suggested pooling their money together to rent a garage which they could both work on their D-Wheels in. After this, Rin stealthily set themselves up as a small repair shop, repairing D-Wheels, motorbikes, cars and even things such as Duel Disks.
Naming the small business 'Synchro Wings Repair Shop', she manages the business/admin side and gives Yugo the work to do (with her also helping out and taking on repair jobs too).
She's unsure if Yugo has even realized yet that this is what they've been doing for roughly the last year or so, but even if he has, she feels he's probably appreciating the distraction anyway.

Relationships:

Yugo

Rin has a very close friendship with her best friend Yugo. They've known each other since they were six-years-old and quickly became inseparable. At times his antics might frustrate her and she may have to resort in scolding him now and then, but she carries a lot of trust in him and is very physically comfortable around him.
Her feelings for him may go beyond a typical friendship, there might be some romantic feelings for him there, but overall she feels very similar to how Yuya and Yuzu view each other in that she can't really picture living her life without him there with her.
She always makes sure that she's there for him if/when he really needs her and supports him the best way she can.

Bracelet Girls

Rin is close friends with both Ruri and Yuzu, especially Ruri. She admires Ruri's eternal patience with her brother, Shun, and admits that if it was her in that situation, she would have clocked Shun by now. She also feels Ruri is just very pure and calming.
She admires Yuzu's dedication to her dueling and to You Show Duel School. She feels both Ruri and Yuzu are people she can talk to about anything.
Sadly, Rin is not very close with Serena. She often feels slightly uncomfortable around her and she doesn't quite know why.

Sakaki Brothers

Rin is on good terms with both Yuya and Yuto, who she knows through Yugo. They both seem like very good people to her that she gets along with well.
With Yuri, she has always felt rather uncomfortable around him and never feels like she knows how to interact with him. Still, she tries to remain on good terms with him for Yugo, she just doesn't like being on her own with him, or in his presence for too long.
